Origin & Producer – Rwanda Specialty Coffee | Baho Coffee | Emmanuel Rusatira
Emmanuel Rusatira, founder of Baho Coffee, is a leading figure in the Rwanda specialty coffee industry, with over 15 years of experience in coffee sourcing, processing, and export. After working for a major coffee exporting group in Rwanda, he launched Baho Coffee in 2016 with a clear mission: to develop high-quality specialty coffee by building washing stations across the country and showcasing the unique flavor profiles of Rwanda’s diverse coffee regions.
Today, Baho Coffee operates 12 washing stations in Rwanda, ensuring consistent quality, full traceability, and controlled processing from cherry selection to final export. Through careful management of the washing stations, only the best coffee cherries are processed, resulting in clean, complex, and high-scoring specialty coffees.
The name “Baho” comes from a Rwandan expression meaning “to live, to be strong, and to overcome adversity.” These values reflect Emmanuel’s personal journey and the resilience of Rwanda’s coffee farming communities.
By working closely with local producers, Emmanuel Rusatira actively supports sustainable coffee farming, farmer empowerment, and continuous quality improvement. His approach strengthens long-term relationships with growers while positioning Rwanda as a key origin in the global specialty coffee market.
