Information:
The Chepsangor Hills Washed Station was revived in 2016 by Rosebella Langat and Sammy, who left their professional careers in Nairobi to return to their home region and revitalize coffee farming. The area was originally planted in the 1950s, but coffee production had declined due to its colonial associations. Local farmers had to travel over 20 km to process their cherries.
Rosebella and Sammy changed that by installing an eco-friendly pulping station with a capacity of 1.5 tons/hour, supporting the regeneration of local coffee culture. Today, the station works with over 150 producers cultivating SL 28, Batian, and Ruiru 11, grown in nutrient-rich volcanic soils at high altitudes.
Together with Martines, they developed several fermentation processes, including Natural Sleeping Bag, Double Fermentation Washed, and OOTB Anaerobic Natural Mountain Dry. Each lot is named after stars in the Constellations Range – this one after Praecipua, symbolizing brightness and distinction.
Why Choose This Coffee?
A rare gem from a women-led regenerative coffee project in Nandi, this coffee offers vibrant fruit notes, floral elegance, and a smooth, juicy cup. Perfect for adventurous brewers and those who appreciate clean, anaerobic Kenyan coffees with identity and soul.
