Origin & Producer Story

This coffee comes from Emmanuel Rusatira, founder and owner of Baho Coffee, one of Rwanda’s most respected specialty coffee projects. After more than 15 years of experience in the coffee export sector, Emmanuel created Baho Coffee in 2016 with the goal of building washing stations across Rwanda and showcasing the diversity of the country’s coffee profiles.

The name Baho comes from a Rwandan expression meaning to have life, to be strong, and to overcome adversity. These values are deeply connected to Emmanuel’s personal story and his mission to work closely with coffee farmers, improve quality, and strengthen Rwanda’s specialty coffee reputation.

The Muganza Washing Station, located in the Kizi Rift coffee region in the Nyamagabe district, processes cherries from more than 250 local coffee farmers. The area’s fertile soils, high altitude, and favourable climate create ideal conditions for producing high-quality Red Bourbon coffees with vibrant fruit notes, floral elegance, and refined sweetness.

Why Choose This Coffee?

Rwanda Emmanuel Rusatira CIH is ideal for coffee lovers looking for a complex natural anaerobic specialty coffee with a fruity, floral, and winey profile. Its notes of strawberry, kiwi, tangerine, white flower, cocoa, and rosé wine create a memorable cup with medium acidity, creamy body, and a clean floral finish.

This coffee is especially suitable for:

  • Filter brewing for a clean and expressive fruit profile
  • Espresso for a bright and creamy cup
  • Moka for a sweeter and more concentrated experience
